"The City of Poughkeepsie is growing. Now is the time to harness that growth for the benefit of the people, all of the people. I will work for a more responsive city government, better public services, and development without displacement."
THE ISSUES
Downtown Development
There is currently over $1 Billion worth of development happening in the City of Poughkeepsie. Over 1200 new housing units are set to come online within the next few years. The City of Poughkeepsie has lacked major investment for decades, and this growth will have significant benefits as well as challenges for the city. As a City Councilman, I will pass legislation that harnesses the new growth while protecting our citizens from the dangers of rising costs. I believe we must have development without displacement.
Government Administration
My background is in public policy, research, and administration. I have studied how governments work, and witnessed them in action firsthand. I have seen exactly what it takes for small cities in the Hudson Valley to overcome challenges and it begins with a strong, unified City Government. I have significant experience building consensus among disparate groups and organizing diverse communities to effect real change together. As a City Councilman, I will work to bring together all of the members of the Common Council, the Mayor, and the Administration to solve Poughkeepsie’s issues as a team.
Community Center and Youth Programming
In October of 2018 I was lucky enough to marry my college sweetheart and the love of my life - my wife Danielle. We look forward to a future where our family can grow and play at a Community Center with other families in the City of Poughkeepsie. We have a unique opportunity to capitalize on the major investments being made in the city to fund new and expanded youth programming, and to ensure that our community provides a safe and fun place for our children to grow and learn. As a City Councilman, I will work to realize the dream of a real community center in the City of Poughkeepsie.
